Becoming a Childcare Provider

It is essential that good quality childcare, in its many forms is widely available in order to allow parents / carers to either enter into or return to the work force.

Entering childcare as a profession can be demanding and challenging whilst being both rewarding and extremely worthwhile.

If you are seriously considering childcare as a profession there are many childcare courses available, however before beginning your new career, starting your own childcare business or setting up a community group you should carefully read the Child Care (Pre-School Services) Regulations 2006 which specify the regulation of pre-school childcare, setting down the standards that must be in place in order to open a childcare facility.

The staff of the North Tipperary County Childcare Committee can assist in supporting people in setting up, opening and running various different childcare settings, such as:

  • Childminder
  • Sessional/ Part Time
  • Full Day
  • Montessori
  • Naíonraí
  • School Aged
  • Parent and Toddler

If you are interested in caring for children by providing a safe and stimulating environment within your own home, you can learn more about becoming a child minder.
